Blessings Received

Check out my last post titled “Birthday Blessings.” This year for my b-day, I received blessings on top of blessings. The biggest and best one was completely unexpected but intentional. A gift that only God could see fit for me. Bare with me as I try to put into words the divine timing of everything that lead to the blessings I received.

It started with a short notice business trip that caused me to reschedule my birthday trip, which left my birth week open. Then a group chat formed whose only mission was to go somewhere. The available dates ended up being my birth week. My cousin and travel bestie’s birthday trip was canceled also and she really just wanted to be out of the country. We all selected 3 places we wanted to go to and the one with the most votes won. We all agreed on a destination and all that was left, was to find a place to stay and flights.

One morning at 2a, I woke up because I couldn’t sleep but the plan was to book our flights at 4a. I booked it and everyone else booked theirs at 4a or a little after. Next was the Airbnb. We settled on one we all agreed on and booked the dates. A few weeks later, with no plan, no itinerary, no to-do list, NOTHING, we hopped on a plane just winging it.

The first couple of days were filled with eating, sightseeing, pool lounging, and chilling. Then on the third day, we decided that we needed to figured something out. We settled on a flamingo experience and that fell through. Then Toya saw Clear Boat Kayak pictures! That was right up our alley. We paid for it and it was scheduled for the next day, which was my birthday. We figured we’d make it a beach day also.

We get to the beach and get right to it. Toya went first, then myself and Yannie went last. Everyone had the perfect color bathing suit for the environment. Each color popped off of the water and our skin! Toya in a mustard yellow, me in a neon green and Yannie in royal blue. Perfection! I get in the boat and there’s a man flying the drone and one holding the string to the boat and instructing the poses. I get to the pose where I have to turn over on my stomach. I told myself to take advantage of the moment and look down into the water through the clear boat. The water was beautiful, almost unreal, the sand was bright, I could see seaweed like debris floating by and awareness and gratitude filled my heart. I was out of the country for the first time ever, on my actual birthday. Later that day for dinner, sitting at the table with people I love and who I know love me, tears formed. It’s a moment I’ll never forget and I believe everything happened just for that moment.

The blessing I received was the present. I was in Aruba on my birthday. I was with two of my favorite people. I was in a dress that I’d worn before but one that I felt beautiful in. Beautiful shoes I found at Goodwill for about $7.00 and sunglasses I got on clearance for $1.00. I was in a clear kayak just to take pictures but I zoned out and took advantage of a moment that I’ll live with forever. I don’t even remember if the guy was talking to me telling me to do another pose, I decided that this moment was worth taking in. And it was the biggest blessing I’ve ever received.

Pictures and videos will always be top tier for me but you can always see much better in the moment, with your eyes, heart, ears, hands, nose, etc. Take a moment and take a mental picture. Those core memories will last forever.

Editing Angie: In between the time I wrote this post and the time I’m editing this, I watched a YouTube video that spoke of a video breaking down the takeaways from Pixar’s movie “Soul”. The person broke the movie down to the simplest life lesson. Because I love the movie Soul, I watched the video. It was explained perfectly and the overall takeaway was exactly what I experienced on my birthday. It was also confirmation that I should post this. I’ll link the video below. I pray you’ll watch it and get something from it. I purposely did not say what the life lesson was because I believe it’s just that important for you to check it out for yourself. Come back after the 15 minute video and share your thoughts in the comment section.

Birthday Blessings

It’s March Madness! I’m over on TikTok sharing the things I love every day this month. I’m a couple of days behind but I am enjoying putting y’all in my business. So head over there if you want to see the shenanigans.

Each year I seem to become more and more grateful for life. Not just on or around my birthday, but nearly everyday. There is truly a blessing in getting older. I’m sure I say this every year but, it’s the truth. Almost daily I learn more patience, more forgiveness, more peace, more understanding and how to extend more grace.

More life and more blessings! 🫶🏾❤️

So this month, I am choosing to extend extra prayers of blessings and grace to those around me. The world is in need of more love, peace and grace. My prayer for March and beyond is that God hears the prayers and pleas of the person reading this.

Dear Father God,

I pray that He blesses you in every area you’re in need of a blessing. I pray that He blesses everyone attached to you. May you pay it forward for every good thing that happens to you, through you and for you. May God continue to protect you, your household and your neighbors. I’m asking God to bless you double for anything you may have lost. I pray that you wake up everyday with gratitude in your heart and end each day with gratefulness. May God heal you where you need a healing. I pray for peace, clarity, discernment and understanding in your life. May the desires of your heart be met with the Will of God. Father God we thank You for life and life more abundantly. We thank You for favor during any trial or tribulation that comes our way. In Jesus name! Amen!

God is in the Details

I don’t know about y’all but I often hear more about waiting on God, than the details while waiting. I think we forget or ignore the small details that gets us to our desires or dreams. The details, if you catch them when they are happening, can be the fuel you need to get you through the waiting. We are human and our flesh is weak, so sometimes waiting can be frustrating. But when God gives you, what I call “breadcrumbs”, it can be the fuel you need to keep going. Breadcrumbs are the things that remind you God heard your prayers, you’re heading in the right direction, or here’s a little something to reward you for your patience.

It’s been a while since I’ve recorded a podcast episode but I felt compelled to tell the stories I spoke of in this episode (Dear Details). Use them as a reminder or as encouragement to pay attention to the details. God provides. He provides provision, protection, and peace in our waiting season. All you have to do is recognize it and give thanks of gratitude.

In 2016, I received a notification that there was a discrimination lawsuit with a company I was in relationship with. This prompted me to do a deep dive into my finances and I learned so much and made so many changes. The blessing out of that was I learned finances, credit, money, APR’s, credit cards, etc. and I started sharing it with anyone with eyes and ears. *God provides!

Back in 2018, I wanted to make a huge purchase. It was something I wanted just because I was tired of the version of the thing I had. Upon doing my research, it was determined that I in fact was not ready to make that purchase. But the blessing that came from that situation, was that I went hard in the paint and paid my car off 2-1/2 years early and wrote a book I never published. *God’s protection & provision!

One of the most profound moments I remember, was in 2011. I tell this story often because of the blessing it was to me. I was on vacation and I thought of work, and there was a pain in my chest. I purposely thought of work again while on the beach and the pain in my chest returned. I knew that was my sign to leave that job as soon as I returned home. It was the best decision I’d ever made. My life was by no means perfect after that decision but the peace I received was priceless. *God’s blessing of peace!

I know some details won’t always be so obvious but when you know God, you know how He works and you know that He is always working. Thank Him at every turn. Give Him the glory always. Things are working in your favor, whether good or bad, to get you to the things you prayed for and the things you desire.
