Dear 2020 Vision,

“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” -Helen Keller

January 6, 2020 @ 4:49p

There are many cliche’ quotes that relate to vision but the one mentioned above is a favorite of mine. I don’t walk around quoting it aloud but I think about it often. Usually just in my head when I am listening to someone talk about what they can’t do and using verbiage that was passed down from decades ago. In my mind, I’m trying to not be that person who does not know or care about their situation and obliviously dismiss the fact that our situations are different. I’m just thinking, YES YOU CAN! YES YOU CAN! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! To me this quote basically means you can’t see the forest for the trees. You can’t see past your own limitations. You see something but have no idea how to get to it and you aren’t willing to try because of it. They say that the richest place is the graveyard due to all of the ideas, dreams and creativity that died with those people.

I was once that person who didn’t believe in a lot, I knew things were possible, just not for me. Not because I thought that I was undeserving, but because I was fearful and didn’t see much influence around me. Then, by opening myself up to learning from others outside of those closest to me, it allowed me to be able to grow and see the world from so many perspectives. When you start to see people who are entrepreneurs, who go back to college late in life, who move to a new city and flourish and the list goes on, you can’t help but to start to look at life differently. You will start to look at you differently.

Possibilities seem much more attainable when you see someone who looks like you winning at life. Granted we don’t know what has been done to get there but the reward is there nonetheless. And seeing it or witnessing it is all the fuel that some of us need. You’ll notice that the people who are where you aspire to be,  speak differently. They speak confidently and positively. They are so sure of what they want and they are determined to get it.

For some people, the vision for their life is so clear. If they could open their brain, pull their vision out and place it in front of you, it would be so detailed. For others, their vision is blurry, cloudy, too broad or too vague. I believe the major difference is that one set of people have faith and believe that what they imagine, dream or think of, is possible. The other set doesn’t believe and doubts that it’s even possible even if it’s been done before. They don’t believe that it’s possible for them and in turn they project that onto others and that creates a vicious cycle.

It took me time to train and renew my mind (“..but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..” Romans 12:2) and once I did, all I needed was to think (”…Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” Ephesians 3:20) it and from there I had to put in the work (”…For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26). My way of looking at it is that if you can think it, envision it, dream it or want it, IT’S POSSIBLE! (”…But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26) (”… Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.” Mark 9:23)

1. Have vision! (Think of what you want, need or desire.)

2. Write it down in great detail. (Be specific.)

3. Fast or meditate on the vision! (Pray, sacrifice and spend time on that thing.)

4. Be disciplined (Don’t allow anything to get in the way of you or your vision.)

5. Work diligently towards the vision. (Do what’s necessary to get you to the vision.)

6. Be consistent. (Don’t slack off if the vision isn’t manifesting in the time frame that you thought it would.)

7. DO NOT SPEAK NEGATIVELY. (If you have a vision, it is possible. No other explanation is necessary.)

8. Change your mindset. (Do the opposite of what has NOT worked for you in the past. Don’t limit yourself.)

Dear 2019,

January 2, 2020 @ 8:41p

Whew! That went by pretty darn fast. I mean 2019, how long did you really stay? I blinked and it was 2020. 😂

This year was absofreakinglutely amazing! It is probably in my top five best year list that I just made up in my head. 😂 Seriously though, Looking back over 2019 and I realized that I grew so much in 2018 that 2019 was the benefit of that growth. My patience, peace and prayers were definitely put to the test this year. Thankfully I didn’t fall victim to any setbacks that I may have encountered.

On this week’s podcast episode, I recapped 2019 in a 30 minute episode. I talked about the “highs and lows” of the year for me, what I learned, what I am grateful for and a few of the top stories of the year. Listen to that episode here.

My friend and mentor Eric Lewis has a great new site (www.tmplife.com) and I recently submitted an entry on budgeting for the new year. Check that post out here BUDGET: Your Relationship with Money for the New Year

Dear Signs,

December 26, 2019 @ 4:17p

Some paths that we take in life come to us as easy as breathing, others we look for guidance to help us along the way. If you’ve ever asked or prayed for a sign, then you must’ve experience the part of life that is unknown and unsure. Some people have the balls to live life and not worry about a direction and they just flow with the wind. Others proceed with caution and look for a little assistance. While it’s great to grow as you go and learn from mistakes, some things in life are so major that the wrong move can set you back a bit. And when life has been challenging enough, those setbacks can be costly.

For years, I have prayed for signs that would lead me to my purpose. People always say that your purpose will almost always have something to do with what you do naturally. It is usually something that is done so naturally that you don’t even consider it to be purposeful. I naturally like to help or assist others in any way that I can. I also, have always been a writer. I write down everything. Even when my mentor Eric called me a writer, I felt that the title boxed me in because I am so much more than that. In reality, at the core of me, writing is my thing. Whether it’s just writing my thoughts, my goals or opinions, my voice has always had someone volume to it. Meaning, whatever I had to say in my writings, mattered. It wasn’t just my thoughts, goals or just my opinions. It was my truth and reality. My name, Angela, means “heavenly messenger”.

The signs were always there and will always be there. You have to be open and aware enough to receive them. I love looking into the sky at the clouds and admiring how great of an artist God is. Last year, in May, I noticed that the clouds formed a straight line a few days in a row. It did this for a couple of months. I immediately thought that this means that God is lining things up for me. Then I started seeing multiples of the same numbers, 111, 222, 333 etc. Next, I started seeing butterflies fly close to me. I Googled the meaning of the numbers and butterflies and it all started to make sense. I asked for signs and the signs appeared. Thankfully, I was open enough to receive them.

Up until recently, June 14th to be exact, I had never heard Gods literal voice, I had always heard from Him through signs and feelings. One of my jobs that I was on for 7 years, I only applied to it because one day, multiple people told me to apply for the job. These people didn’t know one another to my knowledge and it was at different times throughout the day. When I purchased my home, I was denied by multiple apartment complexes so I took it as a sign to buy a house. It was always a dream of mine to own a house because the concept of renting didn’t appeal to me and seeing that my mom has been renting her whole life, but I didn’t think that I was ready at the time. Being denied was a sign. When it was time to quit the job, I went on a vacation and while on vacay, I thought about work and caught a pain in my chest. I thought that I was tripping so I waited and thought of work again. Caught another pain in my chest. I took that as a sign and I put in my two-weeks notice as soon as I returned to work. One of the best decisions I had ever made.

Signs are all around us. Especially if we asked for them. Pay attention. Nothing happens by chance. There is a divine time and space for everything. You are exactly where you are supposed to be at this moment and any and everything that is meant for you, WILL NOT MISS YOU!
